It's FightingBobFest Time Again

The good folks over at Fighting Bob are putting on the 7th annual Fighting Bob Fest - er, excuse me, apparently caught up in the Olympic spirit they are calling it Bob Fest VII. Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the Sauk County Fairgrounds in Baraboo. (9 am to 5 pm)

It's about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on. Great speakers, fascinating break-out sessions, political theater, and the world's largest collection of booths ranging from barely left to way-out left. It is a certified HOOT.

Or as they say:
"Fighting Bob Fest is an annual Chautauqua featuring progressive speakers, networking opportunities, and entertainment. Fighting Bob Fest carries on the tradition of Robert “Fighting Bob” La Follette by providing a forum for progressive ideas on issues facing Wisconsin and the nation."

Featured speakers:

Rep. Tammy Baldwin, Arvonne Fraser, Bill McKibben, Rep. Gwen Moore, Phil Donahue (yep, that Phil Donahue), Jim Hightower, and Scott Ritter.

(Gwen Moore will get you fired up if you have a pulse.)

  1. This place is getting a little dry-lately.

    So here goes-

What is this I hear that Monona is repressing our freedom of speech?

Have you seen the article-in the paper?

  2. Dry indeed; town is dead, blog is dead.

I assume you mean the Isthmus story about the yard sign law. This came up in 2006 and the mayor basically halted enforcement of the yard sign lae for political signs. The city attorney was waiting for DOT to adopt some admin. code provisions to address the issue, but they have not done so yet.

Staff, including the PD have been reminded about the enforcement moratorium.

Dang, that's not very exciting either.
