Election, Elections

As predicted here (Prognostications - UPDATED Saturday afternoon), Dennis Kugle and Kathy Thomas, Jeffrey L. Wiswell, Sr. and Chad Speight won the race for the Monona city council. Lisa Jo VonAllmen came up short. I was slightly off on the order. I thought Chad would be in the top 3 and Kathy would be fourth. Speight's 4th place means he gets the one-year booby prize. Chad made it clear Tuesday evening at the Pizza Oven in Monona for victory celebration that he intends to run again next year.

This outcome sets the table for an interesting election next year. The three more liberal/progressive council members will all be up for election (Bob Miller, Chad Speight, and me). That could change if one us decides to hang it up or, more likely, run for mayor.

And as predicted here (Dumb and Dumber - The Wisconsin State Journal Opinion Page), Scott McDonell would roll to an easy victory and make Scott Milfred's column look as silly as the llama song (The Llama Song - as silly as silly gets!) and that's damned silly! Smashing Milfred's predictions of a conservative groundswell in Downtown Madison, McDonell won relection with over 82% of the vote.

  2. Monona maintains a narrow voice for public issues not defined by market interests. Squaw, Walmart, tavern interests, developers still prevail.
Wood and Speight hold some hope for those of us not seeking private interests.
