Monona Doug Seizes Power, Leaves Town

You may have heard that my council colleagues unanimously bestowed the council presidency upon me at our organizational meeting Tuesday evening. As he indicated he would, Alderman Wiswell nominated me for the honor. I appreciate it. I know the duties include getting the council transportation for the Memorial Day Parade and filling in for the Mayor in his absence. Under some circumstances, the council president becomes acting mayor. Beyond that it is a job without a specific position description.

The mantle of responsibility rests heavily upon these shoulders. So heavily that I jumped on jet aeroplane and flew to Seattle yesterday. It's warmer here and no ice/hail/sleet storms.
