Mystery Monona News

In a week or so there will be some really good news announced about, concerning, or relating to Monona. Really.

Take a guess what it will be. Of course I won't be able to tell you if you guess right untilt eh news is announced. (And no the Edgewater is not relocating to Monona).

  2. Yeah, but they got the price wrong by $250,000.....oh, that wasn't very nice of me.

    Tanning isn't it.

  4. The key phrase is "In a week or so there will be some really good news..." It's not my egg to lay and even then there's that thing about hatching. Patience, young jedi (or was that grasshopper?).

  5. My guess:
The city wins a settlement and the new park shelter in Winnequah will be rebuilt at no cost to the city.

  6. Can we play 20 questions? Is it some sort of groovy retail establishment - like maybe Trader Joes?

  7. New brewpub opening in Monona: Janus Dent Master Brau.

  8. "new park shelter in Winnequah will be rebuilt at no cost". I said really good news, not fantasy.

"Can we play 20 questions?" It is mineral, not animal or vegetable.

"Janus Dent Master Brau." Ben, you peaked....

  10. "Public Storage being torn down and Meriter building a clinic in its place."

Well, that was and is really good news, but it's already been public for a couple weeks.

  11. They're finally building me my tunnel underneath Lake Monona so I can cut the trip to The Great Dane in half??

Or the Phase II of MD reconstruction is going to take place over the '10/'11 winter so it'll be done next spring??

They are actually going to have *good* beer at the 4th of July festival instead of Bud Light and Fosters?

They're going to close off Monona Drive completely to cars and turn it into a bicycle boulevard with rental bikes every 500'?

Oh man, I can't wait. Hopefully it's going to be more exciting than a new logo..........

  12. They are not going to tear down the building north of the PDQ......

Wait it is already happening.... the fence and the machines are gone. What's up with that?

  13. OK, that's not how 20 questions works. I ask a question and you have to say Yes or No.

Anyway, I hope you're not setting us up for massive disappointment, Doug. I don't think I could handle it. This is just so exciting!

That's where the Princeton Club Mini is going.

Disappointment is in the eye of the beholder, but if you are disappointed by the news, well, I'll be disappointed in you.

The news does not involve something new coming to Monona, but rather is an amazing recognition of some stuff we already have, i.e. it's an award.

That and also former alder what's-his-name, Thing-a-ma-Bob Something-or-other, will reveal the location of the tunnel to the Great Dane underneath Lake Monona.

  16. Bus transit will run a loop through Monona and to downtown Madison every twenty minutes from 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., so we can go to nightspots and concerts and really enjoy ourselves without DUIs, can do our shopping at Willy Street, can do without a car...?

Willy Street plans a third outpost in Monona? (Naw, I know that ain't it...)

The library is going to get a green roof, insulating the heck out of the building and reducing the energy cost to us taxpayers, and then solar panels will be put on top of the green roof so that all the electricity the building needs is generated on site?!!!

The Community Center Bar and Grill breaks ground?

  17. So we've gone from a tunnel to our favorite brewpub to this.......

    "It's a major award!!"

    Son, I am disappoint.

  18. An award. Oh poo. I was hoping for something, well, you know, real. Like Trader Joes. Oh well, if it gets press coverage that's good for us.

An award, huh? Are we the "Most Awesome City Surrounded by Madison, Wisconsin?"

  19. The Doug Wood Brew Pub?

  20. Empty oil change place next to Subway gets torn down and they replace it with Donut Land that was there 30 years ago?

  21. Donut Land...Yummy!

It must be an award for the design of Winnequah Road.

That is weak sauce. I expect better.
