In case you have not been by theWinnequah Park lagoon, the city crew has cleared the snow (for the second time this year). The ice is ready for skaters.

UPDATE: Here is a message from Jake Anderson, Monona Parks & Rec Director:

Hello Monona Residents,

The Public Works Staff has been working very hard today to clear the Winnequah Park Lagoon for ice skating this weekend. Ice skating is now open! We hope you get to enjoy the Lagoon this weekend. While you are there, take some pictures and submit them to Parks & Recreation Director Jake Anderson via email at janderson@ci.monona.wi.us . The winning entry will be showcased on the 2010-2011 Fall/Winter Newsletter!

Thanks and Have a great weekend

  2. Hey Doug--It was great to see the rink available. Although I'm an older guy (even older than you!) I still enjoy skating. It was fun to see all the young families on the ice this weekend teaching their little ones to skate. I've sent a note of thanks to Jake Anderson. I hope others do as well. A great, (free) winter activity for Monona parks. Best wishes. Ed Van Gemert.
