Any Last Minute Candidates? MONDAY UPDATE

UPDATE: Kathy Thomas has indeed changed her mind and has taken out papers.

Matt Aro has also taken out papers.

Any word on last-minute candidates for the Monona city council?

  4. Taken out papers for what cc or school board-clarify counselor and I thought that form she filed that said she was NOT a candidate was kinda....well formal.

For city council. The noncandicay declaration is revocable.

  8. I think we need new blood and new visions for Monona in our City Council for teh future. I think it is time for Kathy Thomas to hand over her seat to new people. Her "re-candidacy" is a disappointing development. I was also sorry to see Randy Parvin drop out of the running, and heartened that Matt Aro has taken out papers.

  9. I so agree with the above poster. We need new thinking- and it will be too bad if we just re-elect folks who have been there forever. I am very heartened by Scott and Matt and Randy- young, energetic people with young kids who are ready, or almost ready to serve the city. Kathy has done her part, we appreciate it, but lets move on.

  10. I have mixed emotions about Kathy on the council.

I think she brings much more to the discussion than the other two incumbents, but I agree with Anonymous #6 -- there is a lot to be said for some new blood.

Yet I hate the thought of an all-male council. It ain't right. Just ain't right.

So, where's a good, progressive woman? (Or perhaps the question should be: Where's the good, progressive man willing to take on more duties at home so that his overworked wife can use her great leadership skills for our city's benefit?)

Has Kathy said why she flip-flopped? It would be good to know.

I will vote for Munson and Aro. From what I know of them, they are some thoughtful and selfless guys.
