I have been thinking about this and that and mostly about elections in our town. It seems-we all get pretty jumpy about December and by April we are a lathered about this or that or him or her. We have got people handing out enough literature to wall paper a small bathroom. volunteers going this way and that. It is not that I mind, I really do not-it is good stuff. I mean ask me to support you or pass out your lit-I will probably do it-I am a sap and I like people (in general). Heck , I worked all Saturday handing this and that out.
ReplyDeleteIt is all sort of exciting, but do you think other small towns get as jumpy or excited as we do about school board and local elecations?
Finally, how come I did not get an invite to your post-election party? If you win-it might just be because of this chicken deal and you have me to thank AND if you loose...well you know the rest of the story.

Yeah, probably things get hinky everywhere - although because of geographic split in the aschool district I think that gets even more so.
ReplyDeleteHP, how can I send an invite to a chicken? If you know when and where, feel free to show up.
Chickens for change is now old news. The guard officially changes on 4/7/09 - or as fast as we can get the new reps confirmed, or whatever it is you do up there at city hall.
ReplyDeleteHere's what I want to know............Henny Penny, what will be your new charge, knowing that you've lost the votes to support chickens in Monona??
Citizens waiting with baited breath for you to pick a new direction!
Might I suggest that you take up..........TA DA DA DA - pothole patrol??
If your attention to potholes in our fair city will create as big a media sensation as the whole chicken debacle (which, is now, with the election results, clearly, BAR-B-QUED Chicken!), perhaps our thoroughfares will be passable in no time!
Happy days are here again!
I do not assume that the proposed ordinance is finished. In fact, the Plan Commission will hold a hearing on it next Monday April 13 at 7 pm. It will work its way through the process.
ReplyDeleteWhether or not that passes, I would not be surprised to see something pass that clarifies that it is OK to keep chickens as pets.
If it looks like the law will be clarified to allow chickens as pets, I would like to suggest it only allows hens, and not roosters. I think this limitation would show a reasonable concern regarding noise for neighbors. Thank you.
