ATC Line Over Monona?

Not good news, if this goes through: PSC is considering an alternative from ATC that would put the 345kV line "along Broadway from east of Bridge Road across the Yahara River to Edna Taylor Parkway".

From the TCT:

"Broadway under consideration for part of ATC power line"

Before you file a comment, you can also look at the current comments: ERF

I don't have any special insights, but I would suggest making your comments specific and fact-based and focus on a particular aspect like disruption to the neighborhood, the businesses, aesthetics and so forth.

  1. Can the city council just say no? Or can ATC, in the end, do whatever they want?

  2. Neither. The state Public Service Commission (PSC) has authority to decide whether and where it gets built. That's why I suggest that people file comments with the PSC.

  3. Is there a map posted online with this proposed new route?

  5. The Monona Library has three (quite large) bound documents from the ATC regarding this project released last November. One of the volumes includes very detailed maps showing where the power lines would be run. They are available for browsing in our Reference section.
