Without The Rule of Law

The AP reports that even if chauffeur Salim Hamdan is found not guilty in his trial before a military commission, he may still be held indefinitely.

What has happened to my country?

GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba (AP) — The commander of the Guantanamo Bay detention center said Saturday he has been researching new potential accommodations for Osama bin Laden's driver, who could be held here indefinitely regardless of the verdict at his war crimes trial.

Even if he is found innocent, he may not leave this U.S. Navy base. The military retains the right to hold those considered to pose a threat to the United States — even those who have been cleared of charges at Guantanamo's "military commissions."

Review of new book on how we got here: 'The Dark Side' By JANE MAYER

  1. I find it interesting that Janet Mayer and Seymour Hersh, both columnists for the New Yorker, cite Dick Cheney as the 'worst of the worst'. Bush is all hat but Cheney has been on the 'dark side' since before Reagan.
It is also interesting that Lynn Cheney is a leader in the 'Western Civilization' movement which wants to indoctrinate youngsters in the the ideals of Americanism.
I nominate Dick and Lynn as the power couple of the ages.
