Must....
Have....
Pie....
A group of Monona Grove residents, headed up by Sean Jindrich and Kristin Sobol have organized a Pie Party to benefit the Winnequah Tile Mural Project. The PIE PARTY will be yummy on September 13 from 1 PM to 5 PM at the Winnequah School.
Also involved in the Pie Party or Tile Mural Project or both are: Emily Townsend, Peter Kuzma, Stacey Pipson, Cheri Daugherty-Knight, Sue McDade, Sue Carr and Ann Schroeder.
Check out their web page: http://www.bestpieparty.com/
Warning: Chad Speight and I have agreed to bake pies, but I'm sure there will also be others who know what they are doing. (Maybe I'll make cheese grits and call it 'pie'.)
I copied the following from their web site:
Mark September 13th on your calendars for the Winnequah Pie Party! The very best pie bakers in our area will enter 200 of their finest creations as they vie for fabulous prizes, and YOU will be the judge!
Each baker will present a pair of their best pies. One will be cut and served for tasting and judging, while the other will be available for silent auction. That means you can try it before you buy it!Cookbooks will be available for pre-order.
Come to the Winnequah School cafeteria at 800 Greenway Road in Monona, between 1:00 and 5:00 on Saturday, September 13th. Be prepared for an astounding sight of 100 home-made pies that you may sample as you search for the perfect pie that you would like bid on!
Don’t wait around until the last minute! Auction winners will be announced on the hour as the sample pies are finished.
Bring your kids! Entertainment will be available.
Proceeds from this event will go to the Winnequah Tile Mural Project.
Winnequah students will be working with artists in residence to create a ceramic tile installation in the Winnequah Cafeteria. The students will be creating ceramic tiles that express The Wonders of Our World.Door County artists, Jeanne and David Aurelius are the owners of Clay Bay Pottery. The two artists have done a tile mural project each year for the past 15 years.
The mural for Winnequah School will incorporate symbols of Monona as interpreted through our 3rd - 6th grade children, and will be a permanent installation in the cafeteria of the newly remodeled school.
