Dear Friends,
I am supporting Chad Speight for city council. I hope you will join me in voting for Chad Speight for Monona City Council on April 1.
I have gotten to know Chad and his wife Sue over the last few years. They are both a credit to our community. Chad’s campaign expresses his confidence and aspirations for Monona’s future. By Monona standards, Chad is a relative newcomer – they’ve only lived here for 10 years! While he has been involved in the community as youth sports coach and leader, he is new to local government and we need fresh blood. Chad will be a voice for all the young families in Monona – he and Sue have two young children in the MG school district.
Chad really believes in his campaign slogan, “Let’s Build a Better Monona” - literally and philosophically. Chad also runs his own small business – Chad’s Carpentry – in which his restoration specialty puts his environmental principles to work in his daily working life. He walks the walk. Chad is passionate about his beliefs – he cares deeply our quality of life – our lakes, our parks, our library. He wants to protect our city services in a fiscally responsible way. He realizes that cutting services is often “penny wise and pound foolish”. He views all of us, and especially our governmental leaders, as being charged with a fiduciary duty to protect our environment, especially our jewel, Lake Monona. Chad cares deeply about our community.
Chad Speight will be a worthy successor in the line of Monona progressives that includes the likes of Dean Bowles, Joann Hinz, and Peter McKeever. I am excited that I may have the opportunity to serve with Chad on our city council.
Please join me in voting for Chad Speight for Monona City Council on April 1.
Doug Wood
p.s. Chad is also an avid Brewers fan, which would make at least three of us on the council. There was a time when you might keep that kind of thing quiet!
