Our Friday Monona City Council packets brought the following news.
Alder Suslick sent an email to the City Clerk on October 11, 2007 stating his intention to submit a formal letter of resignation from the common council on Monday. Among other things, he states that this resignation will allow to "better serve Monona as a member of the Dane County Board."
Under state law the city council appoints a replacement. It is my understanding that the interim alder will serve until next Spring's election, so that 4 seats will be up next year. The appointment is on the agenda and starred for immediate action, which I don't understand. Taking action at a first reading requires a vote to suspend the rules and then a vote on the underlying action.
The 2008-2012 Capital Improvement Program is on the agenda for a first reading. A related item, hiring a consulting engineer for the 2008 street program is also on the agenda.
These are the roads planned for reconstruction in 2008:
Falcon Circle 1500 LF (lineal feet)
Southern Circle 600 LF
Greenwood Street 200 LF (Ridgewood to dead-end)
Midmoor Road 3300 LF (Nichols to Winnequah)
The appointments to the ad hoc Sustainability Committee are also on the agenda.

How did last night's meeting go in regards to the appointment of an interim adlerperson to replace the resigning Suslick?
ReplyDeleteAlso, was there any reports from the attorney or news about the status of the mobile home park? It's been rumored that the owners are pleading not guilty to a citation from the city for operating a mobile home park without a license?
Read the article about the unsightly mess in Monona and saw that the building inspector spent 28 hours at the "one trailer park in Monona".
