Legacies of Al-Andalus: Islam, Judaism, & the West For this fourth Humanities Festival in Madison, the Center for the Humanities invites leading authors, scholars, and musicians to Madison to lead a public discussion of the legacies in the modern world of "Al-Andalus."

"Al-Andalus" was the nearly 700-year period of Islamic rule of the Iberian peninsula when Muslim, Jewish, and Christian communities co-existed, although the extent of 'tolerance' is debated..
