One Last Time

I went to my 16th Brewers game (15 in Milwaukee and one in St. Louis) of the year today, by far the most games I've gone to in a season. I woke up questioning whether it was worth going on the heels of the elimination, but the 4-3 come-from-behind 11-inning win put a nice little cap on things. The crowd was large - 40,000+ for Fan Appreciation Day and surprisingly into the game. The mood was pretty upbeat. I had splurged on our seats and we were 16 rows from the field directly in line with third base line, about 14 rows behind the owner's box. It was Attanasio's 50th birthday and he got a big standing O from the appreciative crowd.

Here's a photo from the MJS by Benny Sieu.
Vinny Rottino, Geoff Jenkins and Kevin Mench celebrate after Rottino drove in the winning run in the 11th inning Saturday.

Tony Gwynn Jr.'s triple tied the game in the 9th off the great Trevor Hoffman and Vinny Rottino's line drive single drove home the Hebrew Hammer Ryan Braun for the winner. The crowd went nuts, the players rejoiced, and we didn't have to watch the Padres celebrating a playoff spot.

A lot of good stuff was given away, but I didn't get any of it. And I'm still wondering what the woman from Madison is going to do with her one-year's free cable, phone, and Internet service with Time Warner Cable in Milwaukee!
I've had my doubts about Wisconsin baseball fans, but they shone today.
