Fatter Chance?

The Brewers closed to within 2 games of the Cubs last night when they pounded the cardinals 9-1 and the Cubs dropped one to the Florida Fish. Ricky Weeks got the festivities rolling with a lead-off homer in the bottom of the first and Prince Fielder hit a two-run shot three batters later. That earned a curtain call, as did his 50th homer in the 7th inning and Bill Hall's 3-run shot. Fielder became the youngest player in baseball history to hit 50 home runs.

Five games left and two down; not ideal, but more do-able than yesterday.

By the way: Did they have a "slim chance" or a "fat chance" beforelast night?? By winning did their chances become fatter or slimmer? Is this like "I could care less" and "I couldn't care less"?

My seats last night were in the second level behind home plate and right below press box row. Naturally everyone was keeping an eye on the Cubs score out on the outfield wall, but my section was also able to turn around and watch the last half-inning of the Cubs game on a TV in one of the press box cubicles. When the last out was recorded a cheer went up and the rest of the crowd had to be a bit puzzled - it took a few minutes to post the score for all to see. As Captain Aubrey said, 'what a wonderful modern age we live in'.
