The Merry Pyro Volunteers will be burning the east side of the Woodland Park hill today (Saturday) beginning about 11:30 a.m. if all goes well. The forecast looks good, except the humidity is supposedly going to stay around 40%. That's a bit higher than we'd like to see to burn in the woods. Humidity can be quite localized, however, and if the sun stays out we should be OK. Anyway, it looks like a 'go'.
Sunday addendum: Pretty good burn. We took advantage of the good conditions and burned both a large part of the Aldo Leopold Nature Center prairie and the east side of Woodland Park.
In the next couple weeks I will be planning a garlic mustard pulling day.
Also, a volunteer park cleanup day is planned for the Saturday, May 12 and Saturday, May 19 (Rain dates on the Sunday, May 13 and May 20). I'm not directly involved in that one. I will post more details as I get them.
