I'm sticking by my picks from last Friday that the Democratic Party will gain control of the House (25 seats) and Senate. Two races, however, remain excruciatingly close for US Senate seats in Missouri and Virginia.
Two of the markets that trade in shares of future political events, however, predict a democratic House and GOP Senate. Iowa Electronic Markets and Intrade
This morning the news shows were touting three new generic preference polls showing a shrinking preference for Democratic congressional candidates to as low as 4%. But, this afternoon, two more polls give the Dems an edge of 13% (Fox) and 20% (CNN). You can read the details at PollingReport.com
I've never given these generic polls a lot of credence because we all vote for a specific candidate over another specific candidate and party identification is pretty weak in the US.
The polls close in Virginia, Kentucky and Indiana at 6 pm Central, so it could be an early evening.
