Nice! It does look great. Now if only phases 2 and 3 could get done sooner. Are they still scheduled for 2012 and 2013 respectively?
ReplyDeleteMonona is going to be different place in 5 years. Better.
Yes. Phase 2 (Winnequah Rd to CG Road) is in 2012 and Phase 3 (the middle section) is in 2013.
ReplyDeleteBe wary of design awards. Sometimes architects and engineers try to add things into projects to garner these awards. They like stuff that looks good on glossy photos, but t makes them less concerned about functionality and good engineering. Sometimes. This is not a slam at the Monona Dr project which seems nicely engineered and looks good, but those who have managed many such projects are aware of this issue.
ReplyDeleteYou need to try this Doc Watson tune: Keep on the Sunny Side.
ReplyDeleteHey, this is capitalism, dude. These guys don't design streets to serve the public good. They design streets to make money.
ReplyDeleteI just read that the new federal budget is cutting spending for highways. Since the Monona Drive project is funded by the feds, are there any chances that phases 2 and 3 will get canned?
ReplyDeleteNo, the federal money is already committed to these projects.
