Adopting the proposed resolution will make Monona a One-Star Energy Independent Community.
From the OEI website:
The Wisconsin Energy Independent Community Partnership begins with voluntary agreements between the Office of Energy Independence and Wisconsin communities. Communities that adopt “25x25 Goals”..... will be taking the first steps toward this partnership....
Partnership Benefits
1. Additional access to state and federal funding.
2. Increased technical assistance from state and federal agencies.
3. Improved energy efficiency creating additional savings and capital availability for budgeting.

City Council Meeting

The council will also consider Resolution 09-09-1650: Approval to Inititate Monona Drive Facade Improvement Program.
The facade plan sounds like a great idea. Many people I know think of the dilapidated state of some parts of the corridor when they think of Monona. We have a great community and this will only make it better. It will go a long way to making the community more desirable among people looking for places to move.
