Monona City Council Preview - Part Two

Adopting the proposed resolution will make Monona a One-Star Energy Independent Community.

From the OEI website:

The Wisconsin Energy Independent Community Partnership begins with voluntary agreements between the Office of Energy Independence and Wisconsin communities. Communities that adopt “25x25 Goals”..... will be taking the first steps toward this partnership....

Partnership Benefits
1. Additional access to state and federal funding.
2. Increased technical assistance from state and federal agencies.
3. Improved energy efficiency creating additional savings and capital availability for budgeting.

After the Monona city council gets done rehashing the Monona Drive sidewalk width, the council will take up two important measures to help move Monona toward more sustainable practices and energy savings.

City Council Meeting

Consideration of Resolution 09-10-1655 Supporting the Office of Energy Independence “25 x 25” Goal and Declaring Monona a Wisconsin Energy Independent Community (Alderman Wood).

Consideration of Resolution 09-10-1656 Directing Staff to Prepare Grant Applications for Energy Efficient Equipment (City Administrator).

The council will also consider Resolution 09-09-1650: Approval to Inititate Monona Drive Facade Improvement Program.

  1. The facade plan sounds like a great idea. Many people I know think of the dilapidated state of some parts of the corridor when they think of Monona. We have a great community and this will only make it better. It will go a long way to making the community more desirable among people looking for places to move.
