Mocking Monona?

Monona DPW has erected the actual-size mock up of the proposed stone wall signage that is part of the Monona Drive project. The signage is located at the northwest corner of Monona Drive at Broadway. The lettering size is 6 inches high as per the plans. The mock-up signage will be left in place for two weeks. During the first week, the 6-inch lettering will be used. The second week we will use 8-inch high lettering to see which would work the best. Comments?

After two weeks, DPW plans to remove the mock-up signage from the Monona Drive/Broadway intersection and place the signage at a location where only one stone wall sign is proposed, probably at either the Panther Trail or the Acacia Lane intersection.

  1. I think it looks sharp from the attached file. I am excited to see it in person. It won't take the place of street signs...or will it?

  2. Perhaps the city should be saving the money to be spent on these decorations for more important things?

  4. I like the 6" letters. They are quite legible and restrained, not tacky. I don't need to see the 8" letters, as I think they would be too big.
