Monona Alder Wins Award

This bit of news just clacked in over the newswire:

2009 Leadership Award. Chad T Speight, CR was awarded the 2009 NARI of Madison Leadership Award (NARI - National Association of the Remodeling Industry Madison, WI ...). Chad served on the local Board of Directors from 2001-2007. He also initiated the Website Taskforce in 2001, was Chairperson of the Tour of Remodeled Homes in 2003 and 2004, and has been the National Board Representative from 2005-2009. Chad has been a passionate advocate for the Home Performance Program and improved building codes for the State of Wisconsin. He has been a presenter at the Better Building, Better Business show for the past 3 years and is a regular guest on the Larry Meiller ShowWisconsin Public Radio .     Cool. He deserves it.
    We are lucky to have a guy with as much leadership experience and construction experience on the council. As well as just plain dedicated.

  2. Maybe Alder Speight can help us rethink the use of TIF, using tax monies to encourage speculation for increasing property taxes. Remodeling and retrofitting makes more sense than the plethora of malls and mall-like 'development' that blights the Monona Drive/Femrite Dr. area!
    We need to remodel the use of property tax as a means of providing revenue to the city. Sales tax and income tax are much more progressive than taxing property used for homes.
