Bald Eagle Over Monona

While I was coming out Copp's grocery store this afternoon at roughly 1:30 p.m., I saw a Bald Eagle fly over the store headed toward Upper Mud Lake and Lake Waubesa. Its white head and white tail stood out quite distinctly against the gray overcast sky.

Anyone else see a bald eagle around town recently?

I guess it's a good time of year to see them:

  2. Weren't there a mated pair nesting near the south tip of Belle Isle within the last few years?

  3. I saw an immature bald flying toward Lake Monona at the Beltline and South Towne Drive last Thursday (Dec 11th) and on Saturday morning my wife and I saw a mature pair near John Nolen Drive off of the sailboat docks at Olin Park. It was during the BIG winds and, unusually, both of them were hunkered down on ice flows, obviously fishing out of the wind.

  4. This is very cool.

Perhaps those of you who have sighted bald eagles in this area would like to file a comment with the PSC regarding the ATC transmission line?

See my posts on the transmission line for a link to PSC. The docket number is 137-CE-147.

It would add to the city's statement that there is a nest at Belle Isle (there is; don't know if it is active or not) and PSC should consider the presence of bald eagles.
