The ad hoc smoking ban committee met Thursday night and got input from bar owners and residents. I was not there so this report is based on city administrator Patrick Marsh's verbal report to me. Errors, if any, are likely my fault.
The committee did approve a recommended smoking ban implementation date of October 1, 2010 by a 5-0 vote with an abstention by Mitch Marks of the Silver Eagle.
I hope to have more details later.

Re: Smoking in Skate Park
ReplyDeleteIt's difficult to understand the logic of allowing smoking in the skate park while smoking at the pool is banned. Both are outdoor recreational venues. Somehow, smoking at the pool is banned without having to enact a blanket outdoor parks smoking ban.

PS. That was not my comment "HANG ON.." in the previous Dylan thread.
I would support a smoking ban at all Monona Parks if that can not be done I think it would be a great example to ban it at the Skate Park.
ReplyDeleteHere is my rational-there are many young people there-it sets a poor example for those who do not smoke that are younger.
Further:
Many smoking are probably underage.
Also, if you ban it at the pool....then I assume it would be a good idea to ban it at the skate park for all of the same reasons.
