Good Budget News

At Monday evening's meeting, city finance director Mark Houtakker presented updated budget projections for 2009. It now appears that the city will have sufficient fund balances available for the 2009 budget to offset the approximate $193,000 shortfall while staying within prudent city fiscal policies. Unless these projections change it appears that the budgetary train wreck has been avoided and a referendum to ask the voters' permission to exceed the 2% state levy cap will not be necessary - this year.
