The Monona Public Library Director Demita Gerber reports that February overall circulation increased 2% over 2007 and is up 3% on the year (42,334 items circulated). The staff has made a concerted effort to attract teen users (e.g. the TEENeSCAPE area, the Teen Advisory Board, Teen Book Club) and it has paid off with a 12% increase in Young Adult circulation so far in 2008.
The Library is also offering another teen night as reported on the Library's web page : Teens, take over the library! The Library will be open after-hours for teens in grades 6-8 (ages 11-14) on Friday, April 4 from 6-8 p.m. We will have two Wiis, computers, board games (including our new Apples to Apples set), chess and, of course, books available for use. Registration required - register in person at the circulation desk or by calling 222-6127! Register now to guarantee a place - this program filled up completely last time! Please call 216-7453 if you have any questions about this event.
Finally, there is new artwork at the Library thanks to Epidemic Peace Imagery, "a group of more than 400 artists and poets from around the nation united in their desire for a peaceful planet. The group has shown their work at various libraries and other public spaces around Madison since 2003. Take a look the next time you visit the Library!"
