One of my odd jobs on the Monona city council is serving on the Stoughton Road Policy Advisory Committee. That body is helping put together the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the project that will eventually, someday make major improvements to Stoughton Road. That major project, howver, is likely years and years off.
In the meantime, I just received word that some short-term improvements are planned for this summer, to wit:
Buckeye Road to Cottage Grove Road – Construction of an auxiliary lane that links the southbound Stoughton Road/Cottage Grove Road ramp to the Buckeye Road right-turn lane. This should help alleviate congestion on that stretch and at the intersection.
Stoughton Road/Beltline Ramp Improvements – The eastbound and westbound ramps will be expanded at the interchange. Eastbound would be expanded to a triple left turn
and westbound to two left and two right turn lanes.
Here's a link to the major project planning on DOT's web site:
Central segment - Stoughton Road corridor study from Terminal Drive/Voges Road in the village of McFarland to Token Creek Parkway in the town of Burke.
