The Brewers dropped a painful extra-inning loss to the Braves yesterday and find themselves 2.5 games behind the Cubs with just 8 games to play (Cubs only have 7). The Crew took the lead 3-2 in the 9th, but squandered a great chance to add on and came to deeply regret the failure when Cordereo gave up only his second HR of the season in the bottom half. They again failed to score withe bases loaded in the 10th and lost when Seth McClung and Brian Shouse couldn't get anybody out.
Today's games are essential. The Cubs magic number is down to 6. The Brewers must win today and tomorrow when the Cubs have an off day. If they do that then the Brewers will be either 1 game or 2 games down with 6 to go - difficult but possible. If they slip any farther behind they are done.
