Train robbery

If we do get commuter rail in Dane County, let's hope this doesn't happen again. Fitchburg police arrested a man today as he was cutting up and removing rails from the railroad line that runs from Madison to Evansville and is owned by Fitchburg and the village of Oregon! The guy apparently had a blow torch, a winch, a U-Haul truck, and presumably a plan to sell the steel at a salvage yard. Some alert neighbors reported the activity and the guy was caught red-handed. Fortunately, no trains currently operate on this line.

  1. Hey Doug,

This has nothing to do with this post, but I've been meaning to ask what is up with the firefighters and the contract thing? There was a van parked during the fesitval with unhappy stuff written on the windows, something about working without a contract. Can you enlighten?
