Good article in the Cap Times on Take a Stake in the Lakes week. The quality of our Four Lakes and the Yahara River and other streams in the watershed are the single most important factor to quality of life in the Madison area. Always have been, always will be. The lakes drew Woodland Indians to the area and left their legacy of mounds - a world-class archaeological site. They later drew white settlers like Abraham Wood (no relation) and James Duane Doty. And they still atrract people here to learn and live. And the lakes keep those who already live here.
You can find some good lake resources at MyFairLakes and at Yahara Lakes Association web site.
