Update on the East Side Club

The East Side Club (formerly ESBMA) was hailed before the License and Review Committee this week to answer for allowing your basic "improper exhibitions" to go on downstairs at the club for all these many years. You'll recall that the Old Bastards Club was hiring the strippers until the Monona police got wind of it.

This presented a problem for the East Side Club because city ordinances prohibit a holder of a liquor license from allowing "adult entertainment' (why is it called "adult entertainment"?) to take place on the premises.

The East Side Club, represented by attorney Rick Petri, fessed up, sent the Old Bastards packing , and promised not to do it ever again. Petri admitted, and I'm not making this up, that the club was "caught with their pants down". The LRC made a finding that the club violated the ordinance, but recommended no further enforcement action. The City Council will have the final say at an upcoming meeting.

  1. What is going on with pulling the liq. lic. from Mr. John Leong (Mr. D's location)? From what I have heard, it concerns me that we would pull the lic. from a long term business owner without exploring other options?

    What is the real story?
