John Gard's post-election comments sound like a guy who is finished with public life ("I have lived a good life. If I were hit by a bus tomorrow, I'd die with a smile on my face," he said.). So, I better get in some parting shots.
He acknowledged that he and his opponent said some things they each regretted..and then he added few more pretty regrettable remarks.
Here is this from his oh-so-gracious concession:
"The nation has got some tough issues to deal with, but I guarantee all those Democrats who trashed our president about the war are not going to have the guts to turn their backs on the troops."
"They may have talked a good game. They may have talked about change in a vague sense," Gard said. "This nation either leads or follows. I believe America must always lead."
And this: "But despite things said about me and the way I conducted myself, my family and I served the state with integrity."
Like the integrity he showed in calling a special session while the Democrats were at their national convention in Boston - for his failed TABOR scheme?
Don't let the door (or bus) hit you on the way out of town, John.

Amen-- John Gard is truly one of the most disgusting specimens of Wisconsin politics in recent years! If his defeat had been the only Republican loss of the election, it still would have been a great night!!
