Rumblin', Bumblin' and Stumblin'

The Red Birds need one more win for their first Series title since 1982 - a very long time for this franchise. Very good starting pitching, timely hitting, steady defense.

And thank you to the Tigers' imploding defense. Yikes! First there was Brandon Inge picking up two errors on one play in Game 2, bobbling a grounder then throwing wild to home, before standing in the basepath and picking up the rare 'obstruction' error. Then it was the brain cramp by Zumaya in Game 3 when he inexplicably tried to start a DP by throwing to third base - a throw that was about 3' behind Inge's reach and thus down the left field line. Tonight, we were treated to Curtis Granderson falling over in the 7th, followed by another wild throw by a Tiger pitcher. In the 9th, Miles advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored when LF Monroe took a poor angle on Eckstein's flyball.

Let's not start counting unhatched chickens. The Cardinals have been up 3-1 in 1985 and 1968 and 3-2 in 1987 and lost all three series. But it does feel like our time.
