Please join me in Voting NO on the proposed Civil Unions and Marriage Ban. I could trot out a lot of complex (and valid) reasons for opposing this bit of constitutional bigotry, but what it really comes down to is that this ban simply violates all principles of fundamental fairness. It’s just not fair and it promotes hate and division.
You can get more information at the Fair Wisconsin web site. Their Madison office is at 122 State Street, Room 309, if you want to pick up yard signs, bumper stickers, buttons, or literature.
Their email address is info@fairwisconsin.com
Their website is at: http://www.fairwisconsin.com/index.html
This debate is not some sterile philosophical discussion – passing this unfair ban will hurt real people and real families by depriving them of basic rights that any human being should possess – like the right to be involved in a loved one’s medical decisions.
In my opinion, the vote on the ban probably is the most important question on the ballot - even more so than the governor's race. Wisconsin can be the first state to turn back this tide of bigotry.
The ban will also impact non-married heterosexual couples, i.e. people living together in long-term relationships who choose not to marry. The ban will also be bad for business in this state.
On November 7, let the word ring out from Wisconsin that hate and division have no place in our state constitution. Be Fair, Vote NO.
