Citizens, business people, and city leaders and staff are invited to be active, constructive participants in bringing the benefits of sustainablity to our households, businesses, municipalities and community by learning the key concepts and how to apply them.

At this free event, exhibits and representatives from organizations such as Focus on Energy, Sustain Dane, myfairlakes.com, and the Monona Farmer's Market will be on hand to share their know-how and experiences. Attendees can order a Sustain Dane RainReserve rain barrel; see the fully-accessorized Gary Fisher Monona bicycle, soon to be raffled off by the Natural Step Monona; and enter to win the Sustainable Future door prize - a wealth of sustainable goodies. The aroma of bubbling pots of spicy homemade chili will fill the air during the MGBMA Annual Chili Cook-off. More than 30 chefs will be vying for the top awards and cash prizes, making this one of the biggest in the state. Competition is open to all, but participants must register prior to September 14, 2008. Contact Jeff Machut at the AmericInn Lodge & Suites.

Chili day is a fun day for the chefs, their helpers and general public. The chefs take their chili seriously and no two chilis are the same...some are just a little hotter than others. Many participants set up signs, displays and wear crazy costumes. Samples from the chefs may be purchased for 50 cents each. Watch for the Classic Car Show this year!
