I contacted Mike Honer at First Transit (formerly Laidlaw for current Monona Transit ridership numbers. Ridership is not as high as alder Speight had estimated, but still three times higher than Sunny's numbers. There are about 500-600 rider trips per month or about 7,000 per year.
Sunny and I have been exchanging emails and have buried the hatchet - right in the back of the.... - no, as I expected Sunny has a good sense of humor and both she and I enjoy the give-and-take. She relates that she has written a new column, but it will not be in until next week's issue.

how many riders?
ReplyDeleteThat is the question from me?
Political Correctness on Public Transit.
ReplyDeleteThe letters column in this week's Herald Independent is given over to some PC writers who take issue with Ms. Schubert's free market theology. Even a poor lad took up the PC cudgel, brain washed at so young an age by the liberals in Monona.
Public Transit is an anachronism of New Deal thinking and ought to be drowned in Ms. Schubert's bathtub of PC bleeding heart opinions.
Is Monona really a closet for liberals?
Sunny says-
ReplyDelete15 people.
So-Let me run another one by you.
Sustainable communities-studied it in graduate school before it was hot.
One of the things a sustainable community does....is keep money in the community.
Thus-15 people....
Honestly, we could hire someone in our community who was will to do this type of service....
As long as we know you are being honest, who would this person or company be?
